There are many methods that you can employ to find if the bicycle listed online fits you before you order it.

In this post, let us see some different methods to find the right bicycle size for your height.

Method 1 – Calculating the size using the Bike Height Chart

This is probably the most simple way of finding the right bicycle height for you. You can use the bicycle height chart listed below to find the right cycle for your height.

YOUR HEIGHT in INCHES/BICYCLE SIZE in INCHES CHART

  • 4’11” – 5’3″ = 13 – 15 inches
  • 5’3″ – 5’7″  = 15 – 16 inches
  • 5’7″ – 5’11” = 16 – 17 inches
  • 6’0″ – 6’2″ = 17 – 19 inches
  • 6’2″ – 6’4″  = 19 – 21 inches
  • 6’4″ and taller  = 21+ inches

With the above chart, you can predict the right bicycle size for your height somewhat accurately. This chart doesn’t give the perfect fit as the bike frame size varies for different bike types and brands. Using your height to determine the bicycle size is just one of the easier ways to get the ideal frame size. You may get your bicycle frame that is a bit short or tall for your height by using this method. Now, to get a more accurate bicycle size for your height, you should follow the steps listed below.

Method 2 – Calculating the size using your inseam measurement.

Inseam is the measurement of your leg from the crotch to the bottom of your leg. Using this measurement, you can accurately predict the right bicycle size for your height than the above method. To get the correct inseam measurement of your body, you should first take off your shoes and stand with your legs a few centimeters apart(15-20cm). Then, using a tape, measure the height from the ground level up to your crotch. This is the inseam measurement for you. For different bicycle types, the calculation to measure the bicycle size using your inseam will vary. Let us see those different calculations.

For City Bike,

Inseam multiplied by 0.685 will give the frame size that fits you.

For Mountain Bike,

Inseam multiplied by 0.66 will give the frame size that fits you.

For Road Bike,

Inseam multiplied by 0.70 will give the frame size that fits you.

This method will give you a more accurate prediction of the right bicycle frame size that fits your height. But if you want an even more accurate bicycle frame size prediction that fits you, then you can use the method listed below.
